As hoteliers of a special hotel in Maastricht we launched in march 2003 the website Ambiancehotels.com in the Netherlands. It was our aim to create the most beautiful and easy to use website for special hotels in the Netherlands. A website that would make it easy to refer guests to other beautiful hotels and would stimulate visitors to book in these hotels.

During the past year we received numerous positive remarks from hoteliers, visitors and tourism professionals proving that Ambiancehotels had become a good sales platform for the special hotels. Despite many applications we allowed only a few new hotels on our website. This because quality is more important for the website then quantity.

Every month the number of unique visitors shows an increase. At this moment we attract nearly 30.000 visitors per month who view 200.000 pages. These visitors we attract due to our clear and beautiful website and our high rankings in the main search-engine Google. The number of visitors will further increase because our rankings in the main search-engines get better every month. Furthermore we developed in july 2003 our own reservationssystem to make sure visitors to the website and hotelreservations will increase in the future. We also added the most beautiful ambiance hotels of Belgium at this time.

We offer visitors of the Ambiancehotels website the possibillity to sent via our website a reservationrequest per e-mail to the hotels. Visitors can also visit the hotels own website via a direct link. This because we think we should offer visitors the free choice of contacting the hotels in the way they prefer. We are the only hotelreservation website with free listing for hotels that offers this.

Our reservationssystem is very easy to use and reservations are "on-request". This means the hotel has to accept or decline the reservation request made via our website. We do not offer direct online reservations because the hotels mentioned on our website are mainly small in size and popular with not many rooms available. For the hotels it would take to much of their time to maintain an online availability system.

Our reservationssystem is easy to use:

• Step 1: A visitor of ambiancehotels fills out a reservationform mentioning which roomtype or maximumrate he wants to pay per room;
• Step 2: The hotel receives an e-mail from this request. In this e-mail there is a link and by clicking it the reservationdata is shown;
• Step 3: The hotel can now accept or decline this request;
• Step 4: After accepting the hotel immediately receives per e-mail all the guest information. The hotel can now contact the guest for confirmation;

  After the declining the request we sent directly an e-mail to the visitor that there are no rooms available

In our reservationsystem the hotels have a personal management page accessible with a log-in code. Here there is an overview of accepted and denied requests. Also roomtypes and a cancellation policy can be filled out and these appear on the hotels reservationform.

We charge 7,5 % commission over the reservations that hotels receive via our reservationssystem. This commission we charge of course after the guests stayed in the hotels. Visitors of the website that want to make direct reservations with the hotels find a link to the hotels own website on ambiancehotels as well. Our aim is to make as many reservations as possible for the listed hotels.

The 7,5 % commission gives us the opportunity to get references on major websites. We offer the owners of these websites at least 33,3 % of the revenue in order to get a link to ambiancehotels.

Listing on the Ambiancehotels website is free of charge. All text changes, new pictures, special offers and link to the hotels own website are free of charge as well. We only charge our commission if the hotel receives guests via our website.

Hotels do not have to provide us pictures and descriptions to make their ambiancehotels page. We collect this information from their website. Changes can always be made afterwards.
